This isn't just your average electric kettle, trust me.
I bought this from Costco as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend who LOVES tea but doesn't have a kettle (he microwaved his water... yuck!!!!), and we used it about five times right after opening it. The stainless steel matches every other stainless steel appliance he has in his kitchen and doesn't take up much space. It is very sturdy and the plastic parts don't make it look cheap or anything. It's cordless, and you don't have to worry about awkwardly turning it to make sure it locks in with the base, you just set it on the base from whichever angle and it's ready for use. You can choose the temperature you'd like to have it get up to, and trust me, this thing goes FAST. We actually got hungry for some mac and cheese and instead of boiling the water on the stove, we boiled it in here, and later poured the boiled water in to the pan to pour the noodles in to... fastest bowl of mac and cheese ever!!
The color changing feature just makes using it even more fun. It starts off at green and slowly progresses up the color spectrum until you reach a deep red, no awkward and lame color changes from straight green to straight blue... it's very nice and pretty. The little digital display also shows what temperature the water is currently at, so you can just take it out and pour if someone wants a cooler cup of tea than you do.
I have to say my favorite feature (besides the color changing) is the warming feature!!! You can set the kettle to keep your water warm for you for up to two hours, which I thought was absolutely awesome, which is definitely nicer than having to boil the water over and over again if you want more than one cup of tea. And with all of these features and everything, it's really easy to use, surprisingly! There are only two buttons on the whole thing, one to turn it on/start boiling, and the other to choose the temperature setting you'd like.
It also seems very easy to clean. You just have to remove the little filter inside and you're ready to wash it up.
My only problem with it is that it gets pretty hot... I touched the stainless steel instead of the handle when I was turning it to see the temperature on the display and it really hurt my hand. It didn't burn, but you know, just be careful holding it, and obviously keep it out of reach of children and clumsy people who tend to drop/spill things like me.
Overall, I'm super pleased with it, and so are my boyfriend and his parents :) If you're looking for an electric kettle to buy, trust me, spend the extra money and get this one, you WON'T regret it.
